Courses are delivered by teachers for participants according to mindfulness-based programmes such as MBSR. A commissioner pays for the course (it may be the participants on the course, or an organisation such as the NHS or an employer. Teachers may record data about a course in a national dataset - for example in the NHS under IAPT it is expected that details of MBCT courses and participants are recorded in a national dataset. National datasets are used for a variety of purposes by commissioners, researchers and policy makers. Researchers may use data in a national dataset to supplement other data to add to the knowledge base on mindfulness-based programmes.
